MREF is planning two service trips to Cabaret, Haiti in April. Both trips will visit and support one of our first grantees, The Joseph School. Our sponsors, including Schlesinger Group, Benenson Strategy Group, Delvinia, Pure Spectrum, Precision Opinion, Precision Sample, Ipsos and FUEL are traveling with MREF.
The hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves few days will include visits to different schools to better understand the Haitian educational system, a local orphanage, a homeless shelter, several historical sites, a visit to a local community, the community marketplace and Port-au-Prince. It will also include providing community service at some of these locations. Past trips have included preparing meals for the schoolchildren, building the foundations of a home for a school family, painting classrooms, landscaping, feeding the homeless in a homeless shelter, etc.
The MREF has sponsored an annual trip to Haiti for the last five years. Attendees have consistently shared that the experience was one of the most impactful of their lives. We look forward to reporting on our April 2020 trips upon our return.
