The MREF’s 2025 Race Around the World for Education raised $52,000 to support Downstage Arts, Marty’s Orchid House, the Boys & Girls Clubs of La Porte County, Indiana, and Start Lighthouse.
The race wouldn’t be successful without the support of the sponsors at every level, including one of the Victor sponsors, Quirk’s Media. The company donated $5,000 or more to help vulnerable children around the world. The donations from companies like Quirk’s help children receive the protection and education they need to thrive.
Steve Quirk, president of Quirk’s Media, was a founding member of the MREF and serves on the executive board of directors.
“Visiting the children that MREF supports in Haiti and Costa Rica was a life-changing experience. Spending time with them reminded me how powerful time and even small acts of generosity can be, creating a positive ripple effect that extends far beyond one moment or one place. At Quirk’s, we believe philanthropy is about more than writing a check – it’s about showing up, making connections, and helping create opportunities that last. Those trips continue to inspire me, and they reaffirm why giving back will always be a part of who we are,” says Steve Quirk.
Along with participating in service trips to Haiti and Costa Rica, Quirk’s staff has also participated in the MREF’s Month of Service by volunteering at the Kids In Need Foundation.
“Volunteering as a company at the Kids In Need Foundation has provided us several non-tangible gifts – time together outside of the office to build camaraderie, giving of our collective time to make a positive impact on the lives of many children, and giving us an understanding of the needs in our community. Many times, those needs go unnoticed as we navigate our busy lives, so it is refreshing to plug into our community in new ways for the greater good,” says Chris Bishop Garlitz, director of operations at Quirk’s.
